Thursday, June 3, Work
I admire people who work hard and know what they are doing. It is a good character trait. I haven't always been a hard worker. Thankfully a number of people have influenced me and I have learned how to do good work. Still learning. When I was younger I always thought the work of the Lord was in specific Christian service such as missions, preaching, missions, teaching Sunday school, missions, song evangelist, etc. Did I say missions. Now I know God needs me where I am to do the best job I can so that others will see Him in me. We have a mission field full of the lost right here. I do not need to preach or talk incessantly about religion or God, which is pretty much unacceptable in the work place. He wants me to reflect His character in the job I do. My actions at my job will be a witness for Him. He will speak to those around me through that witness. Not that He doesn't present opportunities for me to speak, but He does not want me to break rules, lose my job and alienate those around me. He wants to do the work through me in His way. Daily reading His word and communicating with Him, increases my sensitivity to opportunities He brings my way. I need to pay attention to Him.
